I love that you’re reading Sherlock Holmes. Have you read this one before?
XO
There’s actually a time lag between what I read and when I post quotes from it to my website. I had not read much Holmes before finally, six and seven months ago, during the depths of the Chiberian Winter of the Polar Vortices, I read The Illustrated Sherlock Holmes Treasury, acquired nearly thirty-five years ago from Barnes & Noble when B&N was a mail-order remainders house. The volume had sat on my bookshelf all those intervening years, looking more and more like an accusation of opportunities lost and time wasted as each year went by. Shortly after Susan and I moved to Chicago (which move occurred a year ago this week), I determined on a number of books I had put off reading for too long and would read. Sherlock made the short list. I thoroughly enjoyed his and Dr. Watson’s company and only wished we could have spent more time together.
